The Flaming Lips lead singer Wayne Coyne and Miley Cyrus have become close friends lately, even getting matching tattoos and collaborating musically.

Miley Cyrus’s bizarre lifestyle has attracted the attention of many artists who admire her unique personality.

The Flaming Lips’ front man, Wayne Coyne, has taken a liking to the young artist. Not only have they become close friends, but even went as far as to get matching tattoos.

These tattoos commemorate Cyrus’s dog who passed away earlier this year and feature an altered Beatles quote.

The friendship has blossomed into something even more. Cyrus is featured in two songs on The Flaming Lips’ most recent album, “With a Little Help From My Fwends.” This is the same quote that is featured on the new friends tattoos. It is clear Coyne and Cyrus are an inseparable duo.

The album features reworked songs by The Beatles combining The Flaming Lips’ electronic sounds with their classic lyrics. The shared tattoo is the centerpiece to this record providing the center design.

Cyrus is featured in “A Day in the Life,” which includes an electronic break. The slow, psychedelic, beat is the perfect modernization of the classic tune. Instead of the soft guitar and piano background music, The Flaming Lips use entirely electronically generated sounds.

It can be assumed that Cyrus’s descent into madness attracted Coyne and allowed for the development of her career and their friendship.

After her break-up with fiancé, Liam Hemsworth, in Sept. 2013, Miley Cyrus was hit with a freedom she had never had which led to what many would deem a “downward spiral.”  Her new take on life, I believe, is not her way of rebelling against the strict control she faced growing up — it’s her way of expressing herself and being happy.

Her sharp left from “Disney dream girl” into the psychedelic acid trip she is today has shocked many people. She not only changed herself, but transitioned her career from childhood to adulthood. Her new music features strong electronic undertones and adult lyrics, reminding us that Miley is no longer Hannah Montana.

The Flaming Lips are known for their high-energy, psychedelic, drug-fueled music which appears to be where Cyrus is intending for her career to go. Working with them was the logical next step in Cyrus’s career.

“With a Little Help From My Fwends” not only shows what we can expect from Cyrus in years to come, but also provides the perfect modernization of Beatles classics.
