Solid sophomore release for Brown

Bust out the barbeque and peach pie because the Chicken Fried sextet have released their second studio album, “You Get What You Give,” and it’s finger-lickin’ good.

Two years after Zac Brown Band’s breakout album “The Foundation,” the Grammy-winning artists recently released their sophomore effort that may help the band attract new audiences.

What is most enjoyable about “You Get What You Give” is the uplifting, raise-your-glass vibe that Zac Brown Band is known for.

The new album features collaborations with Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett. The musicianship on the album is impressive. Singer Zac Brown’s vocals are robust and fit the music well.

On the track “Who Knows,” the band showcases their ability for 10 minutes and five seconds. The track is prolonged and a bit narcissistic, but it’s a great listen if you have the time to spare.

“As She’s Walking Away” is a well-composed duet and the band’s latest single. Jackson and Brown warn listeners, “Don’t be fallin’ in love as she’s walking away, when your heart won’t tell your mind to tell your mouth what it should say.”

Brown escapes Georgia and heads to the beach in “Knee Deep,” a tropic duet with Buffett. For those of us who don’t have the luxury to escape to Cancun whenever we please, the song does a great job of describing that happy place we all go to in times of stress.

Aside from the new album, Brown is keeping busy with a new line of barbeque sauces, steak rubs and his first cookbook. Brown is also paying forward some of his blessings by starting a children’s camp.

Brown’s new album is sure to be a success: as it seems to be evident, you get what you give.
