Treat Yourself: 5 student-picked snacks sure to sweeten your day
Jo’s Coffee on campus is a great place to meet up with friends, have a break in between classes, and especially to try different kinds of treats and drinks. I’ve really enjoyed going there for a small treat or refreshing drink since I started the semester. Here are five treats and drinks from Jo’s, ranked.
5. Sour Cream Coffee Cake
The sour cream coffee cake is topped with brown sugar, icing and walnuts, and is a super delicious treat to have with coffee or by itself. Cake can often be quite dry, but the sour cream adds a great texture to the cake. The topping is not too heavy, so it’s a great choice for an afternoon treat if you’re in the mood for something sweet.
4. Strawberry Italian Soda with Cream
The strawberry flavor is a standard flavor that you need to try if you want Italian soda. With sparkling water, strawberry flavored syrup and cream, it has an interesting and enjoyable strawberries and cream flavor that is tasty. It’s not only sweet, but fruity and refreshing, perfect for the current hot weather.
3. Vegan Strawberry Oat Bar
Vegan desserts are a great option to try at Jo’s , and this one does not disappoint. The vegan strawberry oat bar has a crust on the bottom, strawberry jam filling and oats on top. It’s the perfect combination of crunchy oats and smooth jam. It’s a great vegan option, or even if you’re in the mood for something fruity. Jo’s has other vegan options, but this is the best.
2. Espresso Brownie
Coffee and chocolate is always a delicious combination of flavors, and so I figured this brownie must be a winner. It wasn’t too dry, and I thought it was super delicious. It’s super chocolatey, with just the right hint of an espresso flavor. This will definitely be my go-to in the future when I’m in the mood to have a chocolatey treat. It’s my favorite treat that I’ve tried from Jo’s so far.
1. Toasted Marshmallow Italian Soda with Cream
This is my go-to drink when I’m in the mood for something both sweet and refreshing. It has sparkling water, cream and toasted marshmallow flavored syrup. It’s sweet, but not too intense. It’s a great choice if you’re in the mood for something dessert-like, rather than a fruity flavor like the strawberry flavor. This drink reminds me of a cream soda, except with a more unique and less intensely sweet flavor. It’s my favorite Italian soda flavor and best drink that I’ve tried from Jo’s so far.
