Halloween is approaching: Austin events to satisfy your spooky sweet tooth

Halloween is a great time to be creative with friends during spooky season. Now that October has finally rolled around, it’s time to check out Halloween-themed events around town. Austin has several events taking place this month for people of all ages, with all kinds of activities. Here are five Halloween-themed events to check out. 

Family Craft: Halloween Painted Pots  

When: Oct. 15 6:30-7:30 p.m. 

Where: Wells Branch Community Library 

If you’re looking for a family friendly event enjoyable for both adults and children, this is the event to go to. It will feature arts and crafts with terracotta pots available for painting any spooky symbol you desire. Admission is free — all you need to do is register for each person painting a pot. 

“The Office” Halloween Trivia 

When: Oct. 21 7-9 p.m.  

Where: Growler USA Austin 

Perfect for Halloween lovers and “The Office” fans alike, this event features trivia from the Halloween-themed episodes of the beloved sitcom. With prizes,teams,  single players and free admission, it is perfect for all knowledgeable and competitive fans of “The Office.” This event is sure to fill up quickly, so get there as early as possible. 

Halloween Yappy Hour at Lone Star Court

When: Oct. 25 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Where: Lone Star Court 

With live music, a dog costume contest with prizes and even dog boutiques (including a food truck), Halloween Yappy Hour at Lone Star Court is packed with activities for Austin dog lovers. One prize includes a one-night stay at the Lone Star Court. The event also includes complimentary dog treats for the first 25 attendees. With refreshments for dog owners as well, there is no shortage of fun at this event. 

Barktober Fest – Halloween Dog Parade and Costume Contest

When: Oct. 27 4-6 p.m. 

Where: Bee Cave Central Park

Another dog-themed Halloween event in Austin, Barktober Fest at Bee Cave Central Park, features both a parade and costume contest with categories such as most creative, funniest, scariest and many more. It’s an irresistible opportunity for dog owners and lovers alike, and a great event to go to with friends. Admission is $5, and all funds will be donated to the Bee Cave Dog Park. Want to have a dog-filled weekend? Attend both Barktober Fest and the Yappy Hour event! 

Halloween Goth Ball 

When: Oct. 31 7-9 p.m. 

Where: Carousel Lounge

Taking place on Halloween night at the Carousel Lounge, this dance will be great for those looking to express their goth side and move to eerily danceable music. Candy will be provided at the event, and admission is free. It’s the perfect finale to your month of Halloween festivities.
