‘Resident Evil 3’ comes out in April which is five years in the making.

There is nothing better after a long and stressful day than to sit down and play an amazing game. Thankfully, 2020 is going to be a year jam-packed with amazing games. With new consoles coming out later this year, game developers are doing their best to make the best games possible. Here are some games coming out this year that you should get your hands on.

  1. Final Fantasy 7 Remake – 4/10/2020 – PS4

First announced almost five years ago at the 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Final Fantasy 7 Remake has been one of fans’ most anticipated releases. Although the remake does not encompass all of the original game, to the disappointment of many fans, it covers the original game’s opening in Midgar. Square Enix, the developer of the Final Fantasy series, stated that it encompasses enough content to satisfy even the most avid follower. Fans will be able to play this fantastic looking JRPG when it comes out exclusively to PS4 in April.

  1. Resident Evil 3 Remake – 4/3/2020 – PS4/Xbox One/PC

Players will once again play as Jill Valentine as she escapes from the monstrous creation of Umbrella: Nemesis. The player will navigate through the streets of Racoon City and visit familiar locations, like the Racoon City Police Station, while being constantly pursued by the deadly Nemesis. This new game also includes a multiplayer mode in which four survivors are pitted against a “mastermind” who attempts to foil the survivors’ escape. For those unaware, the successful video game franchise, Resident Evil, was the inspiration for the 2002 zombie movie of the same title. After the critical success of Resident Evil 2 Remake, the team in charge of heading this project, Capcom, had an excellent blueprint to work with. Capcom has been on a streak of fantastic games like Monster Hunter World, Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil 7 and the previously mentioned Resident Evil 2 Remake. Fans will have their claws all over this action-packed horror game when it comes out on April 3 of this year.

  1. Ghost of Tsushima – 2020 – PS4

Set in gorgeous feudal Japan, Ghost of Tushima lets players take control of a swordsman known as “The Ghost.” He is confronted by the invading Mongol Empire as well as skilled samurai that attempst to stop “The Ghost” on his journey through Japan. Players have the option to move through the map stealthily to avoid detection, or jump into the fray, katana in hand, to get through hordes of enemies. Players will be able to play as a samurai warrior in the summer of 2020.

  1. Cyberpunk 2077 – 9/17/2020 – PS4/Xbox One/PC

Very few game developers have a spotless track record. It seems to be natural to have a couple of bad games in the repertoire. This is not the case with the Polish game developers at CD Projekt Red. This is the studio behind the critically acclaimed “Witcher” video game series, based on the book series by Andrzej Sapkowski. Ever since its founding in 1994, CD Projekt Red has created a steady stream of incredible games, and “Cyberpunk 2077” looks to be another hit. Set in the futuristic and dystopian Night City, players take control of a completely customizable mercenary from a first person perspective. It features Keanu Reeves in a prominent role and draws inspiration from beloved movies and shows like “Akira,” “Blade Runner” and “Ghost in the Shell.”

  1. Sequel to Zelda Breath of the Wild – Unannounced – Switch

Although no concrete date has been set, last year’s announcement of the game has made many fans of the series hopeful for a late 2020 release. “Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild” was a massive success. It introduced new gameplay elements to the series like cooking, actual voice actors, an array of different weapons and most importantly, a massive open world.  This success has set the bar sky high for the sequel. Set once more in the Kingdom of Hyrule, the game appears to have a darker setting than what “Breath of the Wild” has. Nintendo is sure to improve on the new gameplay elements implemented in the “Legend of Zelda” series and will release a new must-have for all Nintendo Switch owners.

  1. The Last of Us Part 2 – 5/29/2020 – PS4

The Last of Us” is a narrative masterpiece. It follows the journey of Joel, a smuggler, escorting a mysterious and foulmouthed teenage girl, Ellie, across a post-apocalyptic United States. Many tears were shed in Joel and Ellie’s story, and it pulled at every player’s heartstrings. This sequel, being developed by the masterful story tellers at Naughty Dog, is sure to be a similar rollercoaster of emotions. In this game, players will take control of now  19-year-old Ellie as she is confronted with a mysterious post-apocalyptic cult that threatens her newfound home. Few games have managed to tell such a heart wrenching and powerful story as “The Last of Us” and one can only hope that Naughty Dog manages to pull at our heartstrings one more time. “The Last of Us Part 2” comes exclusively to PS4 on May 29.
