Here’s what happened at the Student Government Association Formal Senate meeting on Jan. 22, 2025.
Executive report
President Mikayla Pastrano encouraged students to get involved with SGA and to direct any questions to their Instagram page. She also announced that SGA is hosting a kickball tournament, which you can sign up for here.
Judicial report
Chief Justice Tate Burchfield reminded everyone that the same parking rules apply from previous semesters: to be sure to park in the correct designated zone, and adhering to the parking rules to avoid getting ticketed.
New business
Five students were inducted into SGA this semester.
Senior Colby Green, sophomore Bella Rodriquez and junior Zane Cummings were inducted as senators, junior Mason Moore was inducted as Parliamentarian and freshman Olivia Hexsel was inducted as External Affairs Director.
Financials
A funding request from the Graduate Business Student Association to host their first speaker event with Siete food speaker General Counsel Linda Garza was approved.
A funding request from Future International Leaders was tabled to next week’s meeting due to lack of representative present.
A funding request from Women in STEM for a science night at Galindo Elementary school was approved.
A second funding request from Women in STEM to host a panel with free food on Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. was approved.
The meeting concluded with a final roll call at 7:23 p.m.
