Freshmen Annie Ruef and Vanessa Segala are soccer players for the St. Edward’s University women’s team.
The two women are roommates and wear back-to-back jersey numbers: No. 44 and No. 45.
Ruef is from Oregon and plays as a midfielder on the team. The Biology major wants to go to medical school after getting her bachelor’s in hopes of becoming a veterinarian.
Segala is a Fort Worth native who plays goalkeeper. A forensics major, Segala is part of St. Edward’s ROTC and is the first in her family to do so.
“I was talking with a recruit for the air force at [University of North Texas] when I decided to go to St. Edward’s, and I found out they had army ROTC,” Segala said. She hopes to join the army after graduation.
Off the field, both ladies enjoy catching up on their sleep and hanging out with friends.
