Day in the Life of Khiani Clark during off-season

Khiani Clark is a senior forward on the St. Edward’s University women’s basketball team.

She is a native from Austin, Texas and her family now lives in Round Rock. Clark transferred into St. Edward’s from the University of Texas – Pan American, now named the University of Texas – Rio Grande Valley.

In her time at St. Edward’s last year, she has been named a Heartland Conference Honorable Mention and to the Heartland Conference All-Tournament Team and Heartland Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

The Special Education major is taking 18 hours and is balancing athletics. Here week-to-week schedule is pretty similar, and here is what a typical Tuesday looks like for Clark during the off-season:

4:40 a.m. Wake up

5:00 a.m. Arrive at RCC, get ready for practice

5:25 a.m. Shoot around and stretch

6:00 a.m. Practice Begins

7:30 a.m. Practice ends, shower and get breakfast

8:00 a.m. Study hall

10:00 a.m. Get ready for individuals (post player practice)

10:40 a.m. Individuals ends

11:00 a.m. Shower then nap/downtime

2:00 p.m. Wake up and get ready for class

3:30 p.m. Intro to Linguistics class

4:45 p.m. Class ends, snack and study hall

5:45 p.m. End study hall, have dinner at Rags

6:30 p.m. Behavior Strategies class

9:20 p.m. Class ends

10:00 p.m. TV/Bed and sleep

When Clark is not busy with basketball she leaves her weekends open for herself. Since her family is not too far away, she goes home to spend time with them and have family dinners. Clark also enjoys doing fun activities with her teammates like seeing a movie or having a game night.

Although she is exhausted most days, Clark said she could not imagine a life without basketball. Clark said, “I’ve played the sport from the age of five till now, year around so it’s been a piece of me for as long as I can remember.”
