SWAT standoff ends near St. Edward’s campus, suspect arrested
A SWAT standoff has ended with the suspect being taken into custody, Austin Police tweeted Wednesday morning.

A SWAT team was called in to handle the standoff with a man who locked himself inside an apartment with a gun at the Blunn Creek Apartments, across the street from St. Edward’s University.
The suspect, Jose Juarez, 27, has been charged with assault family violence, according to jail records.
The university issued an SEU Alert via text and email telling students that traffic will be blocked on Woodward Street to Willowrun Drive.
On campus, Theater Pass, the parking garage and parking Lot P have now reopened, after being closed for nearly three hours. There will be open parking Wednesday and no citations will be issued. Woodward Street has since reopened
Mischelle Diaz, director of communications, emphasized that students should not park illegally, including in handicap spaces or alongside the curb on campus.
