Dump Trump to make America great again
Donald Trump’s candidacy started out as something I regarded as a joke. For months, however, Trump has been a leader among conservatives, rapidly gaining more and more attention despite a wide range of controversies that should have plummeted his popularity. Sadly, Trump’s popularity has only increased by gigantic, obnoxious strides.
Due to Trump’s massive turnout of attention and spiked popularity, his candidacy has turned from something that used to be considered a stunt, into an actual possibility of becoming the next American president. While that prospect makes me cringe at the thought of it, we all need to face the fact that it is a possibility. The focus now needs to be on how we can make it impossible for him to get into office. Here is a list of things about Trump that the general public should know:
1. We need to recognize that Trump has changed, wobbled, twisted and turned his views completely around since he has decided to run. Over the years, he has supported abortion, gun control and single-payer health care. However, after declaring his candidacy he has taken a more conservative route.
2. We need to know and evaluate the things that Trump has actually said. Here are a few explicit statements from Trump:
On Hillary Clinton: “If Hillary Clinton can’t satisfy her husband, what makes her think she can satisfy America?”
On China: “I’m not saying they’re stupid, I like China. I just sold an apartment for 15 million dollars to someone from China.”
On his character: “People that know me, like me.”
Referring to mediator at Fox News debate, Megyn Kelly: “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever. In my opinion, she was off base.”
On climate change: “This very expensive global warming bullshit has got to stop. Our planet is freezing, record low temps and our GW scientists are stuck in ice.”
On foreigners: “I’m interested in protecting none of them unless they pay.”
On his daughter: “If Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.”
3. Trump has actual narcissistic behavior. Developmental psychologist Howard Gardner, a professor at Harvard Graduate School of Education, told Vanity Fair of the real estate tycoon turned candidate that Trump is “remarkably narcissistic.” Gardner further went on to say, “[Trump exhibits] textbook narcissistic personality disorder; he’s so classic that I’m archiving video clips of him to use in workshops because there’s no better example of his characteristics.”
To be frank, Trump will not get my vote in any election. If, by some nightmarish circumstance that Trump is elected president of the United States, I think the rest of the world would be completely right by saying America is in fact the dumbest country in the world.
