Cruz, Edwards win SGA elections
Jonathan Cruz and Jonathan Edwards are the next president and vice president of the Student Government Association.
They won with 37 percent of the votes. A total of 717 votes were cast this election, marking a new record for SGA, according to Elections Commisioner Jonathan Carter.
“It hasn’t really hit me yet that I won, but I am happy I did,” Cruz said. “I’ve been dreaming of this since the second I stepped foot at St. Edward’s. My dreams have come true thanks to the student body and the hard work my campaign team did this week. I am beyond excited for what the future has to hold.”
Shelby Evans and Felicia Stevens came in second with 32 percent. Sebastian Roman and Jacob Rogers came in third with 30 percent.
Along with the new president and vice president, 12 senators were elected. The new senators are:
Jessica Guajardo; Jamie Cardenas; Lucas Boyd; Dominick Namis; Faith Castillo; Ruby Leon; Kennedy Namis; David Issac; Gregory Reck; Andrea Ojeda; Colton Towns; and Janelle Nacpil.
