Smart show features genius, Homeland Security, wild action
“Scorpion” is based off of the real life style of Walter O’Brien, who has a very high IQ of 197. He was diagnosed as a child prodigy and when he was 13, he also started his own tech company.
“Scorpion” is about O’Brien and his team of highly intelligent renegades and how they are the last defensive line for the United States against the ever-growing world of technological threats. The Department of Homeland Security recruits his team to create a solution for their current problem. The agent that recruited O’Brien’s team after their first mission had teamed up with him earlier on in life when O’Brien was a teenager.
He had created a system for the United States that would allow their planes to shoot or bomb their targets with taking speed into account and not accuracy and thus many civilians were killed in the crossfire. This devastated O’Brien making him question if he did the right thing as well as feel guilty for making the system in the first place. Everyone on O’Brien’s team all have problems with socializing because they are unable to register emotions on an emotional level.
As a result, O’Brien brings in a normal person who can help translate the world for them. Their first mission dealt with LAX airport systems being corrupted and thus not allowing planes and the station to communicate with each other. O’Brien and the team use their wits to counter the threat allowing for a lot of action scenes that were executed beautifully. For example, there is a scene that has O’Brien and Paige driving a Ferrari with a plane flying just a foot above them, with a man dangling a wire above their heads that is transferring data from the plane to their laptops.
“Scorpion” is a smart show that combines the elements of comedy and action into an interesting story that will leave watchers wanting more.
