Netflix original series serves up a sensational second season

After one long year, Netflix’s political drama “House of Cards” has returned for its second season, and it is amazing. For those of you who have yet to watch this show, which is considered one of the best shows out right now, the best way to describe it is “Breaking Bad” meets “The West Wing.”

There will not be any spoilers for season two in this review. However, there will be some for season one, so if you have yet to watch the first season, read at your own risk.

This season picks up right where viewers left Frank and Claire Underwood, who are played by Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, leaving for a run together after Frank was tapped to be the new vice president. Progressing through the first episode is a treacherous journey because Frank has left viewers out of the loop of his masterful revenge plan.

The first scene sets the tone for the entire season: the Underwoods are going into the dark abyss together as they begin to get revenge. Regardless of what the Underwoods do, you cannot help but to root for them even though they are ruthless and will do whatever they can to achieve their goals.

While the Underwoods are certainly the protagonists, or anti-heroes depending on your viewpoint, they have some competition now to be called the stars of the show by Cashew, a guinea pig. Honestly, Cashew has hair that can rival Claire’s, and the smarts to outwit Frank.

It is very unlikely that Cashew will climb her way to the top of American politics like Frank, but who knows what her plan has in store.

Viewers should obey Frank Underwood’s advice: “There is but one rule: hunt or be hunted.” So get on Netflix and watch “House of Cards,” or else risk facing spoilers.
