Keep exercise resolutions alive in February
It is only the second month of 2014. Hopefully, those who made resolutions are still keeping up with them, especially the resolutions that involve getting that “swimsuit-ready bod.” Summer is not going to wait for you.
Here are some quick tips on how to sneak in some exercise that can be helpful for those who do not have time for the gym or simply do not like the gym:
1. If you have legs, use them. Take the stairs, instead of resorting to using the elevator or an escalator. Take advantage of each step.
2. If you are the “get there early” type to anywhere and everywhere, park further away. Those extra walking distances will benefit you physically in the end.
3. Create an at-home exercise routine and make sure to do that right before any shower. Check the Internet for one or ask a professional trainer for advice. Use a routine that targets a specific area of the body that needs more attention. Doing this before every shower will add up.
4. For those who would rather watch TV or play games, try playing Just Dance on the Nintendo Wii or Xbox Kinetic. It is fun and burns calories.
5. Use every opportunity to walk. If in walking distance to anywhere you need to go, choose feet or a bike, and not a car. If on the phone, use that time to do a little walking.
6. When going on a small grocery shopping trip, pick the basket and not the cart. Carry those groceries around for a little extra burn.
Beyond sneaking in more calorie burning time, changing eating habits to a more healthy and balanced diet will improve results. Remember: do not skip meals, drink water and try and get the proper amount of sleep.
