Katie Brown on Beauty: Winter Skin
Come wintertime, it is extremely important to take care of your skin. The cold weather can completely suck out the moisture not only from your hands and elbows, but also from sensitive areas such as your face and around your eyes. I’ve had to change up quite a bit what I put on my skin because of the the recent bipolar weather.
If you’re finding yourself in the same kind of situation, hear me out. I’ve got a couple of products that can save your skin from the dullness of wintertime and make your skin look dewy, moisturized, and soft.
Nighttime Care
I think the most important part of your wintertime skincare routine lies in what you put on your face before you go to sleep. Your skin acts differently at night than when it does in the daytime. It is this time when your skin has the most healing potential.
If you’re currently suffering from dry skin, invest in a good nighttime moisturizer that is richer than what you would normally put on your face. I recommend doing some Google searching on your particular skin-type to find a moisturizer that best fits you in order to avoid breaking out.
Eye Cream
The skin around our eyes should be treated differently than the skin around your face, as it is thinner and more sensitive. To avoid dry under eyes, under eye circles and tired eyes, it is important to dab on a bit of eye cream every night. I recommend All About Eyes by Clinique – it’s pretty affordable and very moisturizing.
Morning Routine
The next part is your morning skincare routine. Many people make the mistake of not putting any type of moisturizer on their face in the morning, but it is essential for looking awake and healthy. I highly recommend this moisturizer by Origins, which is a gel-like texture, smells like oranges, and contains caffeine (this combo sold me!). This moisturizer has been a product that I have a hard time going without, especially in the winter. It wakes me up and puts life back into my skin when I wake up looking worse for wear.
Hopefully some of these tips can help you with your dry skin issues, and in case you’re suffering from the EXTREME, refer to my previous article — coconut oil mask anyone?
