FFF FEST REVIEW: Explosions in the Sky
Explosions in the Sky does not put on a performance; they create an experience.
A post-rock band based in Austin, Texas, Explosions in the Sky creates music as imaginative and poetic as their name is using no words at all.
The post-rock band is made up of four members and plays moving instrumental pieces that they described in an interview with NPR as “cathartic mini-symphonies.”
Explosions is best known for their work featured in the film “Friday Night Lights” and the television series of the same name.
On Sunday night at the Orange Stage, Explosions gave a simple introduction before delving into their set.
“We are Explosions in the Sky,” said guitarist Munaf Rayani. “We live here. We are you. We are each other.”
With that, Explosions began their journey of a set which included lights and sounds to match any mood.
Explosions’ music is unique in that each song takes the listener on a journey, and the journey taken by hundreds during Fun Fun Fun Fest was a grand one.
