Year in Review: The Cinema’s debut unforgettable

Antelman fronts the new band The Cinema.

It was a busy year for singer Leighton Antelman. Not only did he revive indie rock group Lydia, but along with producer Matt Malpass, he created The Cinema.  The band mixed elements of indie pop with electronica to create “My Blood Is Full Of Airplanes,” an album that sounds like the feeling of a lazy Saturday afternoon.

One of the best features of the album is Antelman’s one-of-a-kind voice. Not only does he have an impressive vocal range, but he draws in and mesmerizes listeners with his dreamy, cotton-soft voice. He also pronounces all his words in a really drawn out manner that makes every word he sings sound so sensual.

Additionally, Antelman has a true gift for lyric writing. Each song of his is like a beautifully crafted poem and is powerful enough to stand only without music.

Arguably one of the best new bands of 2011, The Cinema’s “My Blood Is Fully Of Airplanes” will get under your skin, stuck in your head and create a mild addiction.
