Year in Review: Fans eager for medieval drama
Based on George R.R. Martin’s fantasy series, this HBO fantasy set in medieval times is full of gore, guts, glory and dragons. Yes, dragons.
With a terrific and huge cast of Sean Bean, Peter Dinklage, Lena Heady and newcomer Emilia Clark among others and an intriguing storyline, “Game of Thrones” is practically the perfect show. So many stories piece together in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros as several families compete for the Iron Throne. Each episode has enough bloodshed to make “Dexter” look like a Saturday morning cartoon and enough twists to literally make your jaw drop.
At only 10 episodes, the first season left fans yearning for more. Sadly, the series doesn’t return to HBO until April, 10 months after the season one finale. Until then, “Game of Thrones” fans will just have to wait, considering no other show can be crowned best new show of 2011.
