Year in Review: Comedy makes cubicles fun again
Nine months ago, Comedy Central premiered a show that would change the course of TV programming as we know it. OK, so maybe it wasn’t that dramatic, but the new series “Workaholics” is arguably the funniest new Comedy Central show since the premiere of “Tosh.0.”
The show follows Blake, Adam and Anders, three recent college grads, as they enter the “real world” and take on their first cubicle jobs as telemarketers. Together, the three smoke a lot of pot, drink a lot of beer and get into some of the craziest hijinks.
One of the reasons the show has become so popular – besides the fact that it constantly delivers side-splitting laughs – is that it has created a subculture for fans. The show popularized the “holiday” Half Christmas, which takes place on June 25, and it has created something called Wordaholics, the “Workaholics” dictionary. Some of the words in the dictionary include fearection, water trash and R.I.C.E.
Season two of “Workaholics” just wrapped up at the end of November, but don’t fret, self-proclaimed workaholics. The show has been renewed for a third season and will return next year.
