Fun Fun Fun Fest: Defeater kicks off music fest
The Boston, Mass. post-hardcore band, Defeater, was one of the first bands to perform at Fun Fun Fun Fest this year. With the midday sun beating down on the Black Stage, punks and rocker kids dressed in black and ripped denim congregated, waiting for a show that would no doubt be a memorable one.
Within minutes of taking the stage, the band had the whole crowd rushing the stage, trying to get as close to the musicians as possible. Fans shouted their favorite lyrics along with lead singer Derek Archambault’s gruff, scratchy roar, while the rest of the band took advantage of the large stage, flinging their guitars around in time to the music.
Defeater, currently on a U.S. tour with Bane, who played a later FFFFest show, Miles Away and Dead End Path, was a perfect choice to open the music festival, as the band was able to wake up the sleeping crowd and get them pumped for the music-filled weekend ahead.
