SXSW: British band brings the noise

With a lineup including For the Fallen Dream, I See Stars and Emmure, The Pantheon Agency hosted arguably the best official all-hardcore showcase at South by Southwest.

However, the standout band of the night was, hands down, Asking Alexandria. No strangers to SXSW, Asking Alexandria filled the night with electronic-infused metalcore and also filled the little white tent of Emo’s Annex to near capacity.

The British band started out the set with two songs from their new album, “Reckless and Relentless,” which is due out in April. Immediately, the pit opened up, the carnage started and the taste of the new album left fans wanting more.

Despite being a little worn out from performing at the Artery Foundation Day Party earlier in the day, Asking Alexandria gave a great, energy-filled performance — in fact, probably its best in Austin. The band played every song flawlessly. And, by the way, the band was constantly running and jumping around the stage. It was almost impossible to believe it was the band’s second show of the day.
