Comedian’s impromptu performance prompts police arrival
You’ve been waiting in line for two hours to see one of your favorite comedians when suddenly you see those flashing red and blues.
The long-time comedian and “Parks and Recreation” co-star Aziz Ansari set up and impromptu show on Wednesday at Frank’s gourmet hot dog restaurant in an attempt to get closer to some of his Twitter followers.
The performance, which was meant to take place at 8 p.m., was supposed to be a small gathering for the venue’s 50-person capacity. However, word spread quickly and the line soon jumped from a few to a few hundred. As the line grew, so did the anxiousness of Frank’s employees in charge of maintaining it and they eventually moved it into a nearby parking lot without the permission of the attendants.
By the time the event was underway, the parking lot attendants had called the police and the line was forced to disperse into the city.
While the show eventually went on, it was not the outcome that hundreds of loyal fans hoped for. As several disappointed fans learned, there are no guarantees when attending an unofficial show, so be sure to come prepared with a back-up plan.
